Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown is engaged! The 20-year-old took to Facebook on Wednesday to confirm her engagement to Nick Gordon. The couple has been criticized for their relationship, which began after Whitney’s death in February 2012, because before her passing she referred to Nick as a “son.”
Bobbi has defended the relationship before, but with the engagement news coming out, she wrote a long message on her Facebook page to set the record straight.
“We aren’t even real brother and sister nor is he my adoptive brother,” she wrote. “My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating.”
She added, “People need to seriously stop judging my relationship. Pretty sure it’s my own decision who I want to be with,” and explained that she and Nick’s relationship is far from perfect, but that’s just like anyone else’s. She ends her message with a harsh note to the haters (although, they’ve probably said way worse things to her), “Judge me, go ahead. Your opinions are yours and mine are mine. It is my life and not yours. The decisions I make have nothing to do with you.”
Regardless of whether or not the public agrees with this relationship, hopefully this is the last time Bobbi feels the need to defend herself. Congrats!
