While Demi Lovato is hard at work in the height of X-Factor auditions, she’s now dealing with some tragedy on the home-front. The 20-year-old singer’s biological father Patrick Lovato has recently passed away.
Although the cause of death has not been revealed, Demi’s dad has reportedly been battling cancer for the last few years. The singer has been fairly public about her turmoiled relationship with her dad, even penning the song “For the Love of a Daughter,” on her album Unbroken.
In 2009, Demi revealed in an interview that it had been two years since she’d spoken to her dad. “When somebody lets you down after you’ve been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don’t know what else to do,” she said, at the time. “I had to cut off all connection. It was hurting me too much.”
Demi stayed tight-lipped about her father’s death over the weekend, but on Sunday night, tweeted, “I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers.. God bless you all, thank you so much.” She reportedly skipped a scheduled X-Factor photoshoot on Saturday, as well.
