The Voice Top 5 Power Rankings!

It’s the semifinals, people! This week, the contestants each performed two songs in one last-ditch effort towards getting to next week’s finale, and with two people going home tonight, the stakes are definitely high.

At this point, Blake Shelton is left with two singers (The Swon Brothers and Danielle Bradbery), while Adam Levine, Usher and Shakira are all left with one (Amber Carrington, Michelle Chamuel and Sasha Allen, respectively). That means at least one coach will be completely out of this thing after Tuesday’s results show.

To start off, I’ll just say that overall I wasn’t entirely impressed with Monday’s live show. These performances should’ve been some of the singers’ best of the entire competition, but the whole night felt a bit lackluster to me. That being said, there were some great moments, and it’s pretty clear to me who the Top 3 should be.

Check out our power rankings after last night’s performances!

5. Michelle Chamuel – Team Usher

Okay, call me crazy, but I have yet to jump on the Michelle Chamuel bandwagon. But, don’t worry Michelle fans…the rest of the world seems to have!

Honestly, Michelle’s first song of the night, “Clarity,” practically put me to sleep. I just couldn’t get into it no matter how hard I tried. She has a pretty good stage presence and a solid voice…but it she THE voice? According to this performance, no.

Next, Michelle took on Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” which I enjoyed about a million more times than her first go around. I think this is probably one of my favorite Michelle performances to date, but it still wasn’t enough compared to some of the other contestants to earn her a spot in the finals to me. But the audience and coaches sure did love her!

4. The Swon Brothers – Team Blake

For the first time in a long time, the Swon Brothers aren’t at the complete bottom of my rankings! Like Michelle, there was nothing crazy memorable about the Swon’s first performance of “Turn the Page,” but I did think for the first time this week they finally started to showcase their voices, rather than just how much fun they are…which is kind of the point of the show. Wait, sorry…ZACH showcased his voice. Does Colton get mad at all that they barely let him sing anymore?!

Do we finally have my favorite Swon Brothers performance to date?! I think so! I loved seeing the guys stripped down and, again, showing that they can actually sing. I’ve said this countless times — I can hear these guys being successful on country radio, but I just don’t think they deserve to be the winners of this show.

3. Danielle Bradbery – Team Blake

As always, Danielle is solid. She’s consistent, and that’s important, but her biggest problem is that since she’s so new at this, she doesn’t really know what to do on stage. Sure, she’s adorable, but she lacks the stage presence that someone like Sasha has. That being said, I thought this performance by Danielle was great, and I just love watching her smile throughout the whole number and be so happy to just be where she is. Hello, she’s 16!

Again, another solid and consistent performance from Danielle. Plus, it was an absolutely perfect moment to see her sing to her parents in the audience. It’s crazy to see how Danielle has grown since the blind auditions (okay, yes, the hair, makeup and styling team at the show help), and it’s cool to see that even adults can relate to her and root for her even though she’s so young.

2. Amber Carrington -Team Adam

Amber is totally my girl, but this performance underwhelmed me…a lot. In fact, probably one of my least favorite of hers to date. Yes, it was a difficult song, but my problem wasn’t that she didn’t nail the vocals — I just felt, overall, kind of bored. I think it’s amazing that she, like Adam pointed out, can pretty much sing anything (as in, not just country), but I didn’t love this song choice for her, which is why my favorite contestant lands in the number 2 spot for me this week.

Luckily, Amber redeemed herself in my eyes with her second performance of “Sad” by Adam’s band Maroon 5. First, let me just say that I think it’s pretty cool that Adam trusts her to not only sing tracks by powerhouse vocalists like Adele, but also his very own songs. As always, Amber was spot on with this rendition, never missing a beat or getting off key. She’s.just.so.good.

Although it’s cool that Amber is super versatile, and this is definitely the time to take risks, I still would’ve liked it if one of her performances this week was country. That’s the artist she wants to be, and I think it’s a little dangerous for her to stray too much if she wants votes from the people who fell in love with her in the first place.

1. Sasha Allen- Team Shakira

Obviously, any viewer is going to have high expectations when someone sings a Whitney Houston classic. And, I’ll admit, after the first verse and chorus, I wasn’t overly impressed. But then, Sasha totally did her thing and NAILED it at the end. This girl has just got the entire package: the voice, the look, the stage presence. She can do no wrong.

I think Donna Summer’s “Bad Girls” was actually a great choice for Sasha’s second performance. While the first time on stage showed off her vocal ability, this time showed off her strength as a real performer. Sure, she didn’t have the opportunity any big, vocal moments in this one, but she still drew the audience in with a fun set, while never faltering vocally.

The top 3 is clear to me — Danielle, Sasha and Amber. However, I will not be surprised in the slightest if things don’t shake out that way after tonight’s results. The Swons and Michelle have a major following, and at this point, it really could be ANY two contestants that go home.

Of course, we’ll have to see how it all pans out — and we’ll be back with your full recap and Top 3 reveal tomorrow!
