Giuliana Rancic’s son Duke is only eight months old, so she and Bill Rancic are still getting used to life as a family of three rather than just two, and with their busy schedules, there’s definitely a learning curve.
Star spoke with Giuliana about what it’s like to juggle being a working mom and wife.
We know you and Bill focus to make your marriage #1. How much of a challenge is that with the baby?
It is definitely hard to juggle everything, but we feel very strongly about the importance of keeping our relationship united so we make it work. Finding a healthy balance between parenthood, marriage and work is a day to day learning process and we are loving every minute of this new chapter in our lives.
You have been cancer free for over a year. What steps do you take to ensure you stay healthy?
I have always lived a healthy, active lifestyle so I have maintained my healthy eating habits and as much of my workouts as I can with an 8 months old baby in the house. I am also very conscious of germs. I take wipes with me everywhere. Wiping down surfaces is a great way to eliminate germs and prevent sickness.
You work so hard and have so many things to juggle – how difficult is it to be away from the baby?
I never knew how hard it would actually be to return to work after Duke was born. Leaving him to go to work in the morning is so tough. I am always thinking about him and checking in with Bill throughout the day, but I also know that I am setting a great example for Duke by getting back to work. Bill and I both want to teach him the value of a strong work ethic just like our parents taught us. Plus, I am just one of millions of working moms around the world so I am not alone in this struggle.
If you have one bit of advice for new moms what would it be?
Never leave home without a fully stocked diaper bag! We always keep ours stocked with Huggies diapers with SureFit design that ensure protection from leaks. We also love Huggies Natural Care wipes. They are hypoallergenic and soft for sensitive skin. And of course formula and snacks.
Everything seemed to run so smoothly when you had baby Duke, any plans set to have another baby? And would you use the same surrogate?
While we would love to expand our family with another baby at some point, we are enjoying spending time with Duke at the moment. Who knows what the future will bring!
