Hilary Duff has a lot on her plate right now. In addition to being a mom to her 1-year-old son Luca and wife to hockey player Mike Comrie, the former child star is now an author, she’s guest starring on Two and a Half Men and helping families in need!

Star: Mother’s Day is coming up. What are your plans?
Hilary Duff: Last year was my first Mother’s Day and we kept it very low key. This year, Mother’s Day happens to fall on my Mom’s birthday so we planned a family vacation! I’m looking forward to getting away and relaxing on a beach with them.

Star: You’re working with JOHNSON’S® Baby CARES on its latest campaign with Save the Children® to send “Care Cards” with words of encouragement for moms in need. What advice do you have for moms who are struggling?
Hilary Duff: This is my second year partnering with JOHNSON’S® Baby CARES and I was immediately drawn to the focus of this year’s campaign, which centers on providing support and positive encouragement to moms.

All moms have times when they struggle and in those times my advice to them is not to be afraid to ask for help, it’s not a sign of weakness. As moms, we’ve all had our challenging moments, it’s nothing to be ashamed of and we should all support one another when needed.

For every card sent, shared or liked, JOHNSON’S® Baby will donate $1 to Save the Children®, which will go toward early parenting and childhood education programs.

Star: What is one Mother’s Day gift suggestion that’s perfect for any mom?
Hilary Duff: Gifts are always nice but spending time with your mom or a mom you know is probably the best gift of all!

Star: You recently did a press tour in New York City. Was it hard to leave Luca for the trip?
Hilary Duff: It’s always hard to leave Luca, I missed him so much! But, I knew he was in good hands with Mike and my mom, and of course I was calling and checking in as much as possible. Even though it’s hard to leave him, it’s important for me to continue to work and do what I can to support programs I believe in, especially those that support other moms and babies like JOHNSON’S® Baby CARES.

Star: You’re known for your chic mommy style. Do you feel pressure to always look put together when you leave the house?
Hilary Duff: Being in the public eye, there is a lot of hype around looking perfect at all times, but I try not to put too much pressure on myself … I have more important things to worry about now! Since I have less time to spend thinking about my outfits, I rely on easy staples like lightweight sweaters and colorful blazers and denim.

Star: You were a successful child star. Would you let your son follow in your footsteps?
Hilary Duff: Mike and I both want to give Luca the most normal start possible. With that being said, we believe its important to encourage your kids with their interests. We will be supportive of whatever his dreams are.

Star: Do you have any guilty pleasure reality shows you like to watch during your downtime?
Hilary Duff: I love Shark Tank! I just worked with Marilu Henner on Two and a Half Men so I’ve been watching her on Celebrity Apprentice and it’s really sucking me in!
