Carrie Underwood Replaces Faith Hill For Sunday Night Football

48th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards Show

Men of America, rejoice — there’ll still be a hot, blonde country singer on your TV screens every Sunday evening before the night’s football games begin. Sunday Night Football announced Tuesday that Carrie Underwood will be replacing Faith Hill to sing the program’s theme song “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night.”

Carrie’s version of the now recognizable anthem will debut on Sept. 8 before the Dallas Cowboys play the New York Giants.

“Just as Faith, Carrie comes with a sterling reputation and is very, very likable,” the program’s producer said. “The important things are that she’s a dynamic performer that sells a ton of records and generates a ton of publicity, all of it positive. She’s a great, great performer. One of the other things is we consider Sunday Night Football family viewing and I think she’s got that All-American girl persona.”

Faith did the honors for six years, and Carrie’s version of “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” will contain the same lyrics, but be a different version of the tune. Check out Faith’s version for a refresher course:
