Reese Witherspoon Opens Up About Arrest

The Cinema Society Screening Of "Mud" - Arrivals

There are plenty of ways Reese Witherspoon could’ve handled the aftermath of her recent arrest, but the actress has chosen to stay as the golden girl we know and love by taking the classy route.

Despite an initial, apologetic statement following her and husband Jim Toth‘s Apr. 19 arrest, Reese has kept low key and hush-hush about the subject, but during an appearance on Good Morning America May 2, she finally opened up. And while we’re all aware of Reese’s drunken “Do you know who I am?” rant, it seems things went even further than that.

“I saw him arresting my husband and I literally panicked,” she explained. “I told him I was pregnant. I’m not pregnant! I said all kinds of crazy things.”

The actress went on to explain and apologize, again, for Jim driving after too many glasses of wine. “We know better and we shouldn’t have done that,” she admitted.

Reese added, “I was so disrespectful to [the cop]. I have police officers in my family. I work with police officers every day. I know better. It’s just unacceptable.”

Maybe the actress is overdoing the apology just a little, but all-in-all she does seem genuinely upset about the situation and it doesn’t look like we’ll see any repeat behavior from her in the future!
