The most reviled stars in show business have seen their fortunes dim recently, and for good reason! Even in Hollywood, no one wants to work with a bonehead.
- Chris Brown
Since beating his girlfriend Rihanna before the 2009 Grammys, Chris Brown has been in a downward spiral. “That night was the deepest regret of my life, the biggest mistake,” the R&B star said. But Chris can’t seem to shake the hate, knocking out a window at ABC studios in 2011 in a fit of rage and inciting a brawl at a club in NYC. Even though Rihanna has taken him back, many music industry insiders don’t trust him, perhaps because he claims to be the real victim. “Enough is enough!” he recently Instagrammed. “I’m sick of being accused. I’ve been going through this s–t since I was 19 years old. A day in my shoes is a day in hell, believe it or not!”

- Jesse James
People began to turn on the reality star with reports of his cheating on Sandra Bullock, but his tone-deaf statements made matters worse. “Everybody can take cheap shots and say I’m a horrible dad and that I’m a Nazi and all this other bulls–t,” he’s said. “I know inside what kind of a person I am.”

The talented singer-songwriter has not only dated what seems like every guy in Hollywood, but she’s made millions bashing them in her songs! “It made me feel terrible,” John Mayer said of Taylor’s biting words in her song “Dear John.” “I never did anything to deserve that.” She also can’t seem to take a joke. After Tina Fey made a lighthearted quip about her boy-crazy rep, Taylor responded by saying, “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.”
Kevin Mazur/WireImage - Shia LaBeouf
The onetime child star has angered most of Hollywood with his impolite comments. For example, he compared Transformers director Michael Bay to Adolf Hitler and said he wasn’t impressed with the sequel, a film that was delayed when Shia broke his arm in a reckless car accident. “I told him he was a f–king idiot,” Harrison Ford said of Shia after he publicly bashed their movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Just recently, Shia was fired from the Broadway play Orphans when he butted heads with costar Alec Baldwin.

Mix ridiculously entitled on-set behavior with utter unreliability and you’ve got Lindsay. The actress has ruffled so many feathers that only a few daring filmmakers will even think of hiring her. “Lindsay was like a child lashing out,” said her costar on The Canyons, porn star James Deen. “There were days when she would scream and yell and cry and refuse to come out.” Very professional!
Reed Saxon – Pool/Getty Images - Angelina Jolie
It’s been nine years and six children since Angelina and Brad Pitt got together, breaking up his marriage with Jennifer Aniston in the process. But Angie’s still seen as a man-stealing vixen — especially by Jen’s friend Chelsea Handler, who called her a “homewrecker” and “a f–king c–t,” helping cement her bad rep among certain women. “I’m not a fan of Angie,” Chelsea said. “She just doesn’t come off to me as sincere. She seems like a woman you’d really want to avoid.” Or at least make sure your husband avoids.

After giving up the reins of The Tonight Show in 2009, Jay wormed his way back in, humiliating new host Conan O’Brien in the process. That drew the ire of comedians and fans who didn’t appreciate Team Coco getting back-stabbed. Now, despite the best ratings in late night, NBC is putting pressure on Jay to retire early to make room for Jimmy Fallon. Guess karma has red hair.
Kevin Winter/Getty Images - Ashton Kutcher
He was once viewed as Hollywood’s most down-to-earth dude, but ever since Star revealed that Ashton cheated on wife Demi Moore with young blonde Sara Leal during a trip to San Diego, he has been hated by women for breaking Demi’s heart! “Girls used to swoon over Ashton, because of how sexy he was and for his good-guy image, but that’s just not the way women feel anymore,” an insider reveals. “No one likes a cheater.”
Michael Loccisano/Getty Images - LeAnn Rimes
She used to be known for her angelic voice and amazing talent. But these days, LeAnn’s claim to fame is her affair with Eddie Cibrian, which ended both his marriage with Brandi Glanville and hers with Dean Sheremet. And LeAnn, who’s only style choice seems to be which bikini to wear, seems to be enjoying every second of it. “LeAnn doesn’t care about anything except rubbing it in Brandi’s face that she has her husband and her kids,” says a source. “She’s completely obsessed with her!”

Following Kim’s lavish $10 million, wedding with Kris Humphries, and a marriage that lasted a mere 72 days, fans turned on the reality star, with a New York Post reader poll putting her second behind only Casey Anthony as the most hated woman in America. Meanwhile, Momager Kris has earned quite the cutthroat reputation as she’s gotten big-bucks deals for each of her six children, while always raking in a percentage for herself. “My job is to take my family’s 15 minutes of fame and turn it into 30,” brags Kris.
Jason Merritt/Getty Images - Anne Hathaway
The Oscar-winning actress has managed to gain millions of “Hathahaters” with her overstated and even exasperated humility and graciousness at award shows, which often comes off as plain phony. But is that really a logical reason to hate her? Perhaps Howard Stern summed it up best on his radio show when he said, “She comes off like the goody two-shoes actress, and it’s just fun to sort of hate her.” Her response? “You have to remember in life that there’s a positive to every negative and a negative to every positive.” Argghh!
Kevin Winter/Getty Images - Justin Bieber
The superstar recording artist has outraged the public recently with his odd behavior, pompous attitude and ungrateful comments. He seems intent to prove that he’s more than just a teen star. “I would say to my haters, ‘I love you. Thank you for supporting me by hating me,’” he’s said. “When they write messages on my YouTube page, I get money for that. So they’re just giving me money to hate on me.”
Jim Dyson/Getty Images - Madonna
As Madge continues to try to be scandalous, many believe it’s time for the Material Girl to grow up and put on some clothes! Top on the list of haters is Elton John, who said, “Why is she such a nightmare? Her tour has been a disaster, and it couldn’t happen to a bigger c–t…. She looks like a fairground stripper.” Ouch!
Dave J Hogan/Getty Images - Matt Lauer
In the wake of Ann Curry’s messy ouster from the Today show last year, cohost Matt blamed the network for treating her poorly. But reports have surfaced that clearly show that two-faced Matt not only didn’t defend Ann but was an integral part in getting her kicked off the show. As a result of fan backlash, the perennial ratings winner has tanked.
Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images - Katherine Heigl
She dissed her blockbuster comedy Knocked Up, demanded out of her hit series Grey’s Anatomy and has been in a string of box-office bombs since. There’s little doubt that Katherine has built herself a terrible reputation in Hollywood, and she knows it. “I’ve never really been America’s Sweetheart, but for a minute I think that’s what they wanted me to be,” she said. “Then I opened my mouth, and it was clear I wasn’t.”
Mike Coppola/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week - John Mayer
The playboy musician has loved and left some of the hottest women in Hollywood, but his caddish behavior and big mouth have scorned scores of others. “All I want to do now is f–k the girls I’ve already f–ked,” he said when asked about his love life. “John has no heart and could care less about anyone,” says an insider. “He’s a selfish a–hole who only worries about himself; that’s it.”
Lester Cohen/WireImage - Jennifer Lopez
In a town ruled by narcissism it takes a special breed to be called out for it. Enter Jenny from the Block. “She loves herself so much, it’s scary,” an insider tells Star. “She doesn’t even try to hide the fact that she’s a diva. She is obsessed with herself, her body and her image. And she’s a total bitch!” Even fellow singer Mariah Carey thinks J.lo is over the top. “I’d rather be on stage with a pig,” she has said. “A duet with Jennifer Lopez and me just ain’t going to happen.”
Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images - Kristen Stewart
When photos surfaced of Twilight’s Kristen Stewart cheating on her boyfriend and costar Robert Pattinson with married director Rupert Sanders, fans became so enraged at Kristen that she went into hiding for months. “I apologize to everyone for making them so angry,” she said. “It was not my intention.” Rob has since forgiven her; everyone else, not so much.
Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic - Gwyneth Paltrow
For years, Gwyneth has rubbed many in and out of the business the wrong way. Do people think she’s arrogant? “I’m really f–king good at my job,” she’s said. “People who are interesting and good know that, and that’s all that matters.” Pretentious? “I would rather die than let my kid eat Cup-a-Soup.” Perhaps it’s how she explained her lifestyle website Goop.com: “When you go to Paris, and your concierge sends you to some… restaurant because they get a kickback, it’s like, ‘No. Where should I really be? Where is the great bar with organic wine? Where do I get a bikini wax in paris?’ People know that I know that.” Or it may be how she explained why she now lives in London, saying: “I don’t fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans.”
