Charlie Leaves Girls

HBO Hosts The Premiere of "Girls" Season 2 - Outside Arrivals

Christopher Abbott, who plays Charlie on HBO’s Girls, announced his abrupt departure from the series earlier today, after “butting heads” with the show’s creator/star Lena Dunham, according to Page Six.

“They’ve just started work on Season 3, and Chris is at odds with Lena,” a source reported. “He didn’t like the direction things are going in, which seems a bit odd since the show put him on the map.”

According to Abbott’s publicist “[He] is grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd [Apatow], and the entire Girls cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show.”

Funny, we always thought it was Adam who was headed for a meltdown, not Charlie… But if this paves the way for Marnie to spend more time with Booth Jonathan, then we’re all for it.
